This week, complete the following:
1. Activity: Using your Analysing and Presenting Argument Text Book, read page 8 and complete exercises 1.11. 1.12, and 1.13.
2. Activity: Practice Essay. Choose one essay topic and complete. Have ready for start of next term.
1. ‘Jerome says, ‘I got the better end of the deal. I only lent you my body-you lent me your dream.’ To what extent is this true of the film “Gattaca’?
2. ‘Gattaca’ shows that categorising people is false and dangerous’ Discuss.
3. “The characters in ‘Gattaca’ are too caught up in their private dreams and personal ambitions for genuine relationships to be possible.’ Discuss
4. ‘That’s how I did it, Anton. I never saved anything for the swim back.’ Vincent defies and transcends his destiny and, in doing so, inspires others.’ Discuss
5. ‘One man’s loss is another man’s gain, says Vincent, moments before the viewer meets Jerome. Does the film show this view to be true about success and failure to be true, considering how their relationship develops?
